OK.. back from ghostland

I do have to apologize for be so absent in this project… it is a labor of love and, unfortunately, family and work have to come first.

I’ve been heads down for the past year working on NBA Dynasty for Playdom/Disney which was just released on facebook. As you can probably imagine, the basic underpinnings of the simulator for NBA Dynasty are the same as the simulator for EWB Baseball which, in turn, is founded on Earl Weaver Baseball.

Well, work beckons again and I’m moving on to other projects now that NBA Dynasty is out.  Among them is to update EWB Baseball for the lastest iOS and see if that makes some of the outstanding performance issues go away.

I’m also thinking that I’ll be dropping the price very significantly.

As I get back into it, I’ll be looking to see what else can be done with it in what time I have to devote.  There have been some tentative discussions with others to join together which would, at a minimum, allow the game’s graphics to be (finally) updated.

More soon I hope!

  • I really like the graphics improvements idea. That would be awesome. I still like the Amiga’s EWB and PC’s 1.5 version best. Smoothness (and detail) was so cool in the graphics of version 1.5 that I still would fall in love with it in 2011 if it could be revived or even improved. Those players were like dancers on the green grass (wink wink 😉

From my point of view it would be nice to have something similar to that. Or something entirely new, based on a newer approach. Just my few cents.

  • Stupid thing though is, I never played the game I love so much on a apple device, because I went windows mobile back in the days. From knowing every version of EWB (even Apple II’s) I think I can judge the iPhone#s version it is a port of the EWB2 or igiBall graphics I always had troubles with, to be honest. Not that 3D or ‘director’ weren’t innovative, but I somehow really never liked it compared to the old version, where I roughly watched 500ish games with….

Good to hear you’re still around, Eddie. But I have a question for you. How come EWB baseball is not in the itunes store anymore? Seems like a simple fix or update would help the people who already have your game. For months, I looked for an upgrade on itunes, but I couldn’t even find EWB baseball. The current game of EWB is playable because it is too slow. I almost had given up on this game until I saw your post above. When is the timetable for EWB baseball to be upgraded?

After giving up on this because it was too slow, I tried it on the Iphone 5 and discovered that it was working again. Just in time for the end of the season!

Though it’s obviously been a while since this thread had any action, I became a huge baseball fan in part due to some fantasy baseball leagues I played in with some friends as a teenager back in the late 80’s. We started on MicroLeague Baseball but found Earl Weaver Baseball to be far superior. To this day, I haven’t found another simulator that felt quite right by comparison, and NO sim since has allowed for changing stadium dimensions! I ran away with the league one year because I designed a crazy park where the center field fence was pretty close. Howard Johnson in ’89 was a 30-30 player, and in my fantasy league that year, he was MVP and shattered Roger Maris’s 61. I would LOVE to check out your work! I’m not at all surprised to know you worked on the Dynasty series of Facebook games. It has the right feel. Kudos for all of it!! EWB will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart and memories.
