Kepp up the excellent work with the EWB on iPhone project. You really should be rated much higher in the App Store than you are. I already know how great you are but I guess it will take a little longer for most iPhone owners to see. You are the best and true baseball simulator on the iPhone. The other baseball games are just hit/pitch arcade games. Please keep up your excellent work. We look forward to the all of the upcoming legendary features and then some.
When a homerun is hit, there should be louder cheers, exploding scoreboard or greater fanfare to indicate that a homerun is hit. A homerun should be a big deal.
Consider calling EWB for the iPhone simply iEWB.
You really should focus your efforts on continually improving the iPhone version of EWB. The game is much better suited for that platform since the graphics are very dated. However, on the iPhone, the game graphics are pretty much on par with other iPhone games. But for Windows, with the exception of EWB diehards, there isn’t going to be much of a demand for a Windows version of the game unless the graphics undergo a serious and much needed revamp. Let’s face it, as much as we love EWB, the graphics of the game are now obsolete. The game still features the screens that were developed for EGA/VGA systems back in the day. But on the iPhone, the graphics don’t look as bad in relation to the other games on the platform although they can and probably should be improved upon.
After such a long time with no tweets and no blog updates and no new version discussion whatsoever, I’m left wondering if Eddie has decided that continuing to update the iPhone EWB isn’t worth it. Anyone?

I was glad to discover EWB on the Australian app store. I had almost given up looking for a proper baseball game/sim, and had to search pretty hard on the web to find this. Please continue the development of the app, there’s a lot of promise for it on iPhone. I don’t mind the graphics being a bit dated, although does the batter need to warm up so much each time 🙂 I will try to get word out about the app because as others here said, the alternative baseball iPhone games are just arcade or trivial. Well done and thank you.
Long time fan of EWB for the PC. I would love to buy the app for my iPhone, but I wanted to ask a question first.
Can you create your own teams/players with blank stats like the PC game?

Eddie, I should tell you that noticed a couple of bugs in the current version. 1) When I pinch hit for my pitcher, I try to make the change, but the menu bar turns brown and the game crashes. 2) in the lineup screen, the CPU does not have its lineup filled out completely (i.e. the catcher is missing). Will you be able to fix these bugs in an update.
Working on this update now… hope to have it submitted in a few weeks.

If someone uploads the stats, yes, there will be 2009 stats 🙂
You can create your own teams.. the best way to do this is to download the igiBall game at http://www.bangbangplay.com (it’s free to do this much with it.. it’s sharewhare and costs to play entire 9 inning games, but the team editor is available in the free version).
If you want to then upload the stats, drop me a note and I’ll help do that.
Is there a way to check the present box score? I’m sure there is, but I just can’t find it. I want to see how is hitting well in the game or not (I know that when a batter comes up it show their batting stats, but I want to look over the whole line-up and what they have done.)

It’s built into the code base, but I haven’t implemented it for the iPhone yet… it’s on the list.

Eddie, are you going have more updates for EWB baseball? I have the game on my ipod touch and it is moves really slow. I think since Apple charged $7.99 for the game, we users are entitled to an upgrade.

Looks like this version of the game is a big let down.
Was a loyal fan but the lack of response and updates makes this look like a pure money grab. Sad to see.
I don’t think this is a money grab. Eddie is just trying hard to accomplish something like this in his spare time. We owe him just respect for even trying, to be honest, because he simply is a legendary game developer. Nothing less. Just play his game EWB for a few minutes or read the Eddie Dombrower Wikipedia article.
Just thinking right now about the mount visit in this game (don’t know if it is in the phone’s version, but I hope!):
Pitching coach: How’s the arm?
Pitcher: It’s fine.
Catcher: He seems a little wild right now.

I keep looking for this game and can’t seem to find it? Has it been pulled because of the complaints? I need my Earl fix and I don’t want to grad my Amiga 500 out of storage!
I believe it’s been pulled as it’s not compatible with iOS 4.x… it’s on my list of things to try to take care of this summer (between work projects).
Bump… I’d love to check it out! Even if we’re a couple iterations of iOS into the future. 🙂
